The soft sound of people's
multi-lingual conversations rising in volume as our gondola approached
each bridge and then trailing off as we moved away through the canal, added to the charm of the excursion.
Though charming, romantic, and filled
with opportunities for memorable pictures, we definitely did not feel
alone or secluded. Though it was a very public experience, the
gondola ride did bring the romance for which Venice is known.
The tour of the canals of Venice does
not disappoint and will be the highlight of a trip to this ancient city
on the sea.
