Pictures of the Grand Canal & Canal S. Marco

Picture take from a boat crossing the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy

Any visitor to Venice must take a trip down the Grand Canal to see the picture perfect splendor of the grand houses that line its banks. Even today, in keeping with time honored tradition, a contest seems to be underway in which the residents attempt to one-up each other with brilliant exterior finishes to the buildings.  Around each turn the beautiful buildings appear in an endless parade on each side of the passing water traffic. A tour of the Grand Canal will provide a thousand picture perfect vistas, and is an essential introduction to Venice. The opportunity to ply the waters of the Grand canal is a great way to begin your exploration of the city and a must for any visitor touring Venice.
